Asteroids is a classic arcade shooter released by Atari in 1979. Players control a triangular spaceship in a vector-display asteroid field, using rotation and thrust to shoot and destroy asteroids of various sizes while dodging enemy UFOs. How to play Asteroid

• Players control a triangular ship in an asteroid field – rotate left/right to aim, thrust to move forward (the ship has inertia and continues drifting), and fire to shoot.

• The goal is to destroy all asteroids—large ones split into two mediums, which then split into two smalls when hit.

• Players must also dodge UFOs that appear randomly and fire back (small UFOs aim more accurately).

• An extra life is awarded every 10,000 points.

• Hyperspace can be used as an emergency escape, but it may destroy the ship.

Tips and Tricks

• Destroy large asteroids early

• Keep moving to avoid getting trapped

• Avoid excessive continuous thrust

• Small asteroids move faster and are more dangerous
